Mission Statement

The Mission of Watt Mule Company, LLC is to provide safe, quality, comprehensive trail-riding services to the public and to develop outstanding trail systems and camping areas for public use in order for people to enjoy the great outdoors with their horses, mules, and donkeys.

Mules are the cross between a male Donkey and a female Horse (mare).

“Donkey” is a worldwide nickname for the equus asinus or the “ass” family. The male is typically called a Jack, thus the term “jackass”. The female of the ass family is known as a Jenny. When a Jack is bred to a horse Mare, the result is a Mule. The male mule is called a John and the female mule is called a Molly. The Burro is the smallest of the ass family from Spanish and Mexican decent and is native to the southwestern U.S.A. Mammoth Jacks and Jennies are the largest of the ass family, standing 14 hands or more, and are used for draft mule production. We have six of these in our company. The most distinctive feature in the mule is the horse appearance but with long ears! Mules have smaller hooves than horses so they are considered to be more surefooted. There are also some other subtle differences to mule confirmation and behavior that generally make them more suited for rough terrain, steep climbs and descents, and narrow paths. Occasionally wildlife or something manmade will startle horses and mules on a trail ride. Mules, however, tend to be more logical and less prone to becoming a “run away”. Many liability insurance companies recognize this with cheaper rates for mules. Watt Mule Company mules are all trained with principles of natural horsemanship and are gentle and experienced in human relations.

But you can only see what God made from the back of your mule"
